A couple quick items:
— To those who heard me say on KJR-AM yesterday that the Huskies need only go 5-5 the rest of the way to get to a bowl game, I am aware that they do have 11 games left — there’s a reason some of us aren’t in live radio as a career. Simply a mistake there, though I could point out that my main point that they just now need five wins the rest of the way is valid. Five more wins gets them to 7-6 and while UW fans are understandably more optimstic than that right now, getting to a bowl game is the main stated goal of Tyrone Willingham this season.
And I think it could be argued that every game left on the schedule will be as hard or harder to win than the two they have already won (meaning that yes, I think Boise State might only be a seventh or eighth place team in the Pac-10 this year). I think if you read between the lines of the comments of UW coaches this week, there is no question they expect Ohio State to be a much more formidable team than was Boise State.
Some took Willingham’s comment on Monday about not being as fast this week as a joke, but I think Willingham was trying to send a little message, as well, about the step up in competition the Huskies are about to take.
— Some of you asked how many Ohio State fans are expected Saturday. Sounds like quite a few but not to the level that it was last week against Boise State, which was obviously a much easier trip. I’ll try to get some exact numbers and pass them on.
— I’m having some internet connection issues today so at the moment, the posts won’t be quite as frequent.
