Davenport says he’ll play, too

UW cornerback Byron Davenport is an obvious storyline this week with his former ties to UCLA — he played there for two seasons before transferring for personal reasons.
Davenport said he was limited in practice Tuesday but planned to really test his hamstring today and that he expects he’ll do well enough to get the go-ahead to play.
“It’s time,” he said of his anxiousness to get on the field.
He said the hamstring he injured before the season is fine now but that he still feels some soreness in the hamstring he injured two days before the Boise State game. He played 3-4 plays against the Broncos but sat out against Ohio State.
Davenport said his desire to get on the field this week is more about simply playing again than the fact that the game is at UCLA. As has been documented, his reasons for leaving UCLA had nothing to do with the football program.
“It’s something I’ve been thinking about but not too much,” he said. “I just want to be out there. Going back to UCLA is cool but I just want to be out there.”
