Ranking the Pac-10

A little late with the travel day, but here they are:
1, USC — Booty looking like a serious Heisman candidate. Huskies have a big chore this week to slow him down, not to mention trying to score on that defense.
2, Cal — Another good win, but who is coaching these guys, Dennis Erickson? Cal committed 14 penalties Saturday. Now comes a showdown in Eugene against the Ducks with the first team to 50 winning.
3, Oregon — If Booty’s a Heisman candidate, shouldn’t Dennis Dixon be one, as well? Is any QB in the country playing better? He has 11 TD passes and zero interceptions, not to mention running for four touchdowns.
4, Arizona State — ASU is becoming the new comeback kids, battling back from 19-0 to win 44-32. Earlier, ASU trailed Colorado 14-0 before rallying. ASU is now 4-0 for just the second time since 1997.
5, UCLA — Undeniably erratic, but also undeniably talented. Very interesting game at Oregon State this weekend.
6, Washington — Oh those second halves. Huskies will need to pull an upset now to avoid being 2-5 in a few weeks.
7, Oregon State — Gained 514 yards against ASU but lost due to five Sean Canfield interceptions.
8, Washington State — A must-win this week at Arizona.
9, Stanford — Cardinal seems primed to pull a major upset at some point this season.
10, Arizona — Offense seems to be kicking into gear a bit, but what the heck has happened to that defense?
BTW — Here’s a good resource for links on all the games Saturday from Ken Goe at the Oregonian.
