USC and rain

With all the talk about the rain and how it might impact the game on here, thought I would pass along this state from the USC press notes this week that the Trojans are 20-21-2 in games in which it rained during a major portion of the contest.
That includes a 1-3-1 record in the rain in Seattle the win coming in 1947, the losses in 1938, 1955 and 1975 and the tie in 1953. That obviously doesn’t include the memorable 1981 game that the Huskies won which I’ve always thought to have been played in the rain as well as a huge wind, but maybe it was just wind.
The notes say that the last time USC played a game in the rain (again, in which it rained during the major portion) was its 41-10 win over Notre Dame in 2004. Interestingly enough, that was the last game Tyrone Willingham coached at Notre Dame before being fired.
According to the USC media guide, that’s one of just two “rain games” the Trojans have played since Pete Carroll became coach in 2001. The other was a 55-14 win at Cal in 2001.
