Prepping for a bye, Carroll on officiating

I wrote today about is ahead for UW this week — specifically, a much-needed bye to prepare for the final eight games of the season.
We’ll find out more today on what UW may do during the bye week at Tyrone Willingham’s weekly press conference.
Here’s the LA Times Monday wrap on USC with some interesting perspective from the other side, including Pete Carroll saying that he will ask the Pac-10 to review some of the penalties levied against the Trojans Saturday. Also a note that C.J. Gable may redshirt and some thoughts on Matt Spanos filling in at center, which make it easier to understand why USC’s O-line seemed to be so out of sync at times.
Here’s the LA Daily News’ Monday wrapup with more from Carroll on the officiating including his assertion that the early hit on Jake Locker wasn’t late, and that he also thinks the pass interference call on Taylor Mays shouldn’t have been made.
Carroll says specifically of the Locker hit that “the quarterback wasn’t out of bounds” and that “I want to hear an explanation on a number of things.”
Also news in that one that Staffon Johnson got hurt at the end of the game.
