Some news and notes

Some leftover news and notes:
— One thing Jake Locker said today that I didn’t get on the earlier post is that he is not calling any audibles right now, saying that “for the most part, we kind of run what we call.” That’s worth keeping in mind when evaluating the offense. More veteran QBs are given the opportunity to change plays and I would imagine that will happen for Locker as he gets more experienced.
— I talked to Anthony Boyles’ mom today and she said he expects to get his scores on Thursday. Boyles said the other day that he won’t be able to get in until the winter quarter even if he gets a passing score now, but if he gets the needed score, he plans to move to Seattle soon to begin preparing. Devin Aguilar is already in Seattle and if he gets the needed score, he will also enroll in the winter. So neither will be able to enroll in time to help this season.
— The departure of Ryan Bush means there 10 of the 23 players who signed under Keith Gilbertson in 2004 are gone (including JC transfers Dashon Goldson and Josh Okoebor). I’ll try to break down the whole thing a little later.
— Another interesting quote from Locker. Asked about his season to date, he said: “I didn’t know what to expect. It’s been difficult. It’s a fast game, a lot of things are going on when you are out there, but each week you do learn something and are able to take something away from each passing game.”
— Here’s the Eugene Register-Guard’s weekly Pac-10 notebook, which always has lots of good stuff in it.
