With UW in a bye week, we’ll look for some more general college-football stuff to bring you today.
— Here’s our story for today focusing on what is essentially an “open audition” for playing time for the running backs the next two weeks.
Of note is a comment from UW running backs coach Trent Miles on J.R. Hasty and how he is handling not having played thus far — he had one carry in the Syracuse game and that’s it.
— Here’s Jon Wilner’s College Hotline blog with the note that Stanford is the biggest underdog in Pac-10 history this week. You may remember that Oregon State famously beat UW as a 37-point underdog in 1985, a game often regarded as the biggest upset in college football history.
— Here’s an interesting commentary from Greg Hansen at the Arizona Daily Star on the demographic breakdown of AP voters.
— The Arizona Republic’s ASU notebook contains an item on cornerback Omar Bolden, who UW courted heavily last year, as well as on Bill Doba’s comments that Arizona may be more talented than the Sun Devils, which predictably hasn’t gone over too well in Tempe. Here’s more on that from the East Valley Tribune.
— Speaking of Doba, here’s a commentary from the WSU student newspaper that Saturday’s loss at Arizona felt like the beginning of the end for him.
There is no media access to UW today even though the team is practicing, so there won’t be any official new news. But I’ll try to throw a few things on the blog so keep checking.
