Monday notes

Not a whole lot came out of Tyrone Willingham’s press conference today, not too surprising considering coming off a bye week.
Willingham said again that the bye week was devoted largely to getting some major scrimmage time for the young players, and he said they ended up getting enough plays to get in a full game’s worth of activity.
But Willingham wouldn’t give specifics about which young players might have looked good, so there’s not too much info to give you on that.
Willingham said the team emerged from the bye week healthier than it had been going into it with many of the veterans essentially getting the week off from major activity. That included QB Jake Locker, who said he didn’t do much physical activity during the week and feels a lot fresher today as a result.
The depth chart lists Darin Harris as the starter at free safety in place of the injured Jason Wells. Willingham said that could change, however — Nate Williams is listed as the backup.
Willingham was again asked about Jordan Murchison and again said he looks okay but wouldn’t speculate as to when he would begin seeing action.
Many of the players talked about watching football over the weekend. Locker said he went up to Bellingham and watched some friends play for Western Washington.
