Baer on KJR-AM

Here’s a link to the interview of Kent Baer on KJR-AM this morning on Softy’s show.
Here are some highlights:
— Baer said the struggles of right now is something you have to accept as part of being a coach. “Being in the business 35 years, you go through thsoe things. You don’t like them but it’s part of the business.”
— Said the team has given great effort all season and that this may have been the best week of practice the team has had all season.
— Said Chris Stevens came out of the game last week due to a bad hip, something that hadn’t been mentioned previously.
— Said the team did do some Cover Two when Hugh Millen suggested that they hadn’t, but that it was a different form designed to take some pressure off the safeties.
— Said he would like to disguise coverages more but that it’s hard to do with a secondary as young as UW’s with three freshmen often playing in the nickel defense. Said it’s easier to do with a more veteran group, but that the Huskies tried some packages with some of that in it this week.
— Asked about the talk that his job is on the line said he understands that “loyalty goes toward winning, as well. I’m fully aware of things that go on in this business. If it were easy everybody would be doing it.”
— Talked about the strength of Stanford’s team being its receivers and how hard the team plays.
