Wednesday p.m. notes

UW coach Tyrone Willingham told us today that safety Nate Williams could miss Saturday’s game with a hamstring injury.
Williams didn’t practice Tuesday and if he’s out again today, he likely won’t play against the Beavers. Williams wasn’t in uniform today while the rest of the team was in full pads, so I’d assume he’s out this week.
If Williams can’t go, his place in the nickel defense will be taken by Jordan Murchison, who filled in during the second half against Stanford in that role, as well.
Other than that there was little real news out of UW today.
Willingham called Tuesday’s practice “a solid practice” and said the team was in shorts and shells simply to “freshen up the team to some degree.” UW was in full pads today.
Asked about OSU starting Lyle Moevao, Willingham pointed out that Moevao almost won the starting job this fall saying that means the Beaver coaches had a certain level of confidence in him to take the battle that far. Willingham said Moevao has a “very quick release” and runs around better than Sean Canfield.
Willingham also talked about the likely raucous atmosphere that will greet UW in Corvallis, saying “it will be almost the exact opposite atmosphere of what we just played.” It’ll be senior day in Corvallis, a near-sellout, and the Beavers always get rowdy for the Huskies.
It is also likely to rain and Willingham said that “you can just count on it that that game will be the worst game of the year weather-wise.”
Willingham also said that center Juan Garcia was in a gold jersey this week, as well as the other 11 players mentioned Tuesday.
