It’s a beautiful day in Corvallis

I have arrived at the stadium and it couldn’t be a better night for football.
Despite all those weather reports of cold and rain, I barely see a cloud in the sky as I type this from the press box, and there was nothing but sun on the drive down.
Lots of crazy scores out there today, which should only reinforce in all of us the complete unpredictability of college football. I’ve picked Oregon State to win for all the reasons I detailed Friday, but I will hardly be surprised if UW takes this one.
Just look around some of the scores today — Illinois beating Ohio State, a seemingly-dead Nebraska team scoring 73 on Kansas State, Mississippi State beating Alabama — and little should really shock us anymore, especially in games between two conference teams.
And while I know few of you who regularly read this probably want Oregon in the national title game — a real good possibility now that Ohio State has lost — the one positive for UW fans is that if the Huskies can get into a bowl game, that would likely mean a better post-season venue for Washington. That’s a long way off and a lot to get done, I know, but with four hours to kill until game time, just throwing it out there.
Here are the Pac-10 bowl arrangements for this season.
UPDATE — J.R. Hasty is here and available.
