Rankings and a pick

I’ve been remiss in not posting my Pac-10 rankings earlier in the week.
Here they are:
1, USC — When considering only Pac-10 games, no conference team has a wider gap in yards allowed per play (3.9) and yards gained per play (5.3) than USC. Oregon is next at just .5 yards to the positive.
2, Arizona State — Biggest game since 1996 tomorrow night.
3, Oregon State — Beavers making their usual second-half run — they have won five of six since a 2-3 start. But likely no Yvenson Bernard in the Civil War.
4, Oregon — Wow how things can change in a hurry. The loss of those receivers is really big now that they’ve got to go with Brady Leaf.
5, Arizona — Really ruing now that one-point home loss to Stanford and two-point home loss to New Mexico
6, Washington — UW’s 317 points scored is already most since 2002 (398).
7, UCLA — Will the players be able to tune out the Karl Dorrell talk to play the last two games?
8, Cal — Not an effort to be proud of Saturday. Now eighth in the Pac-10 in scoring offense when considering only conference games.
9, Washington State — Now last in the Pac-10 in turnover margin at minus-seven.
10, Stanford — Back to reality.
AND A PICK:
USC AT ARIZONA STATE: What a fun way this will be to end Thanksgiving (as long as the wife and kids don’t mind). There have been few constants in this crazy Pac-10 season. Two have been USC’s defense (the Trojans haven’t allowed more than 24 points in a conference game, which is better than the average of the seven teams); and Arizona State’s ability to dominate in the second half (ASU has outscored foes 177-50 in the second half). Whichever team can continue that trend figures to win this one. USC has been getting healthy and seems revived, and the thought here is that the Trojans will get to Rudy Carpenter just a few too many times and that the Trojans improving running game will do just enough. USC 27, ASU 21.
