The view from Eugene

Readers of the basketball blog are aware I’m in Eugene tonight for the Husky basketball game.
I figure the next time I’ll be here is for the opener of the UW football season next August, a game that’s probably as critical as any opener can be for all sorts of obvious reasons.
As I was driving here today I listened to the local all-sports radio station and with the Huskies in town, the discussion centered on what school is really Oregon’s biggest rival.
The host agreed that UW-Oregon football rivalry is huge, maybe more heated than Oregon State, but that it has lost some luster in recent.
“It hasn’t been a rivalry since Ty Willingham’s been there because they’ve been such a pathetic program,” the host said.
So that’s what they think of the Huskies here right now.
