More on Locker, AD search

I’ll pass along the two stories we had in the paper today on the events of Friday:
— First is this on Jake Locker’s decision to play summer baseball, which includes some new quotes from Dave Lewis, the general manager of the team. As Lewis says in the story, it is “football first” for Locker, and he will work baseball around his football commitments. He said it’s uncertain if Locker will go on road trips or how many games he will play, or how long he will stay with the team.
“I would s ay he will play more than sporadically and less than regularly,” Lewis said. “Probably not every game, but he’s going to play as much as he possibly can.” He said Locker will only play in the outfield (or DH) to reduce the risk of injury, and he said Locker “signed a contract” only as an agreement that the Bells will be the only team in that league he will play for this season, something asked of all the players.
— Also today is this update on the AD search, with some quotes from acting AD Scott Woodward and president Mark Emmert about where it stands. Emmert said again that the goal is to have someone hired by the end of the academic year.
