Looks like Gervais is new Husky assistant

A source has told The Seattle Times that Skyline High football coach Steve Gervais will be named as an assistant coach for the Huskies.
Contacted by the Times, Gervais would neither confirm nor deny that he is moving to UW, saying “once there is an official statement I’ll be ready to talk about it.”
An official announcement will likely come tomorrow.
Gervais has won six state titles as a high school coach, including a 42-35 win over O’Dea for the Class 3A title last fall. UW coach Tyrone Willingham’s son played last season for Skyline.
Gervais is likely to fill the running back job though Willingham left open the possibility that there could be some changes in job responsibilities depending on who was hired to fill out the staff. Gervais reportedly told his players at Skyline during a team meeting at school today.
Gervais was 94-22 in 10 years at Skyline and 244-87 in 31 years overall as a high school coach.
UPDATE — Here’s a story from the Times in December with some background on Gervais.
ADDED NOTE — As some of you have already noted, Skyline has a couple of the top prospects in the state in coming years in WR Gino Simone, who will be a senior next fall, and QB Jake Heaps, who will be a junior. Also, Gervais’ son, Riley, who was an All-Kingco tight end at Skyline last year, is expected to walk-on at Washington.
