Okay, so I know some of you are out there are tired of Rick Neuheisel stories.
But I wrote one more for today’s paper, thinking it was an angle that was worth pursuing — what do some of his ex-players feel about his return? As you can read, it’s not a black-and-white deal at all. They all have lots of good memories of their time at UW under Neuheisel.
But many — especially whose who played for Jim Lambright — also saw how a lot of things about the program changed when Neuheisel was there. And while they think it’s a stretch to lay all the blame for what is happening now at his feet, some admit you can trace some things back to his tenure.
Anyway, I thought it was an angle that felt relevant this week with Neuheisel returning for the first time, especially as we play out the final games of the Tyrone Willingham era and try to assess how the program got to this point.
On to other links. …
Bud Withers’ Pac-10 notebook includes a couple mentions of the Huskies. Notably, Mike Bellotti is mad the Oregon-Arizona game isn’t on TV while UW-UCLA is.
— The LA Daily News says there’s a chance Ben Olson could play for UCLA this week.
— The LA Times says UCLA defensive coordinator DeWayne Walker was not happy with the effort at the end of the Oregon State game.
— SBRForum.com says take the Bruins and lay the points due to a rather convoluted system it says is undefeated this season.
— I missed this a few days ago, but there’s an interesting take on the challenge awaiting Texas Tech as it tries to keep Mike Leach.
— Ditto, here’s a look at how Oregon may be Chris Petersen’s future, and not UW.
All for now.
