Friday morning links

Lots of interesting comments on the previous thread, and looks like a pretty split decision, as I think has long been the case with all things Neuheisel.
It will be interesting to see the reaction tomorrow — probably more interesting than what will follow.
Anyway, on to today’s links:
— I got a lot of e-mail this week from people upset that the game is being played at night. So I decided to try to explain why in this story here detailing the process by which the game was moved to 7:15 p.m. It’s a fact of life that almost nobody turns down TV exposure and money anymore.
Bud Withers also wrote this column speculating that UW may be making a heavy run at Gary Pinkel.
— Another coach said to be high on UW’s wish list is Mike Leach. And here’s an interesting look at him from noted author Michael Lewis, who profiled him a few years ago for the New York Times.
Ken Goe’s Pac-10 notebook always has some interesting stuff.
— ESPN’s Ted Miller looks at what to watch for this week in the Pac-10.
— Here’s a Pac-10 notebook from the New York Times.
— Another pick for UCLA tomorrow.
— The LA Times’ UCLA notebook includes the news that backup OL Sonny Tavaga won’t make the trip to UW for personal reasons. He’s listed as the backup right guard this week.
— Finally, you have to get into their pay section to see it. But CoachesHotSeat.com has a list of coaches for each opening that it calls its “Oh ?&?&, They hired _______? Damn!” Coaches. Or in other words, the coaches they figure that school’s opponents would fear the most. Here’s its list for UW: Chris Peterson, Boise State; Gary Pinkel, Missouri; Mike Leach, Texas Tech; Bronco Mendenhall, BYU; Kyle Whittingham, Utah; Troy Calhoun, Air Force; Dave Christensen, Missouri OC. My comment would be that so far, none of those coaches has done or said anything to take him off the list.
All for now.
