Monday news and notes

People often complain that the Pac-10’s TV deal is a bad one, not giving enough national exposure to conference teams.
The Apple Cup, however, might indicate that the TV deal is too good.
In case you had forgotten, the game will be nationally televised — yes, that means to the entire nation — on FSN this Saturday, even rolling out the “A” team (admittedly, a liberal use of the term here) of Barry Tompkins, Petros Papadakis and Jim Watson for the announcing.
So there’s nowhere to hide these rotten apples, though I guess one could argue that having the game televised nationally will serve as good visual proof for those who might disbelieve either team is capable of victory.
In other news. …
— The weekly depth chart is out and it includes all the same names as last week, including players injured in Saturday’s game such as Ben Ossai, Matt Mosley and Michael Gottlieb. So either all of those guys are okay or maybe they just didn’t have updates on any of them yet. We’ll get more at Tyrone Willingham’s press briefing today at noon.
— As I wrote today, the Huskies are eight-and-a-half point favorites. In my story, I tried to detail a little of the thinking of the oddsmakers in setting the line.
— Vince Grippi of the Spokesman Review has all the Cougars news you could ever want and saves me the trouble of linking any other stories about the game by linking them all himself (thanks, Vince. Maybe I’ll let you buy me one for all the hard work).
— ESPN’s Ted Miller, who apparently will be in the Palouse this weekend (not too late to call in sick, Ted), has the Huskies in their usual ninth spot in his Pac-10 rankings this week.
— Lineman Grant Enger of O’Dea High has committed to Oregon State.
— Syracuse finally fired Greg Robinson and ESPN provides a round-up of candidates for that job. The only name on that list that is generally found on those presented for UW is Lane Kiffin, though I still just don’t think he’s going to be the guy at UW, the Huskies preferring to go for a more proven commodity.
