Clearing up Locker’s redshirt chances

So the official word from UW is that as of now, there is no chance for Jake Locker to get an additional year of eligibility for having missed most of this season due to injury.
“It’s not possible currently,” a UW spokesman said today. “He doesn’t currently qualify.”
Many have wondered if Locker would have a chance for an additional season, but as I have stated on here before, he doesn’t fit the criteria. And a UW spokesman said today that while Locker did broach the subject with UW’s director of compliance, John Morris, he was told that he doesn’t qualify.
To recap — the spokesman said sixth years are granted only for missing two years for events “outside of your control.”
Locker has already redshirted once by choice, so that doesn’t count.
And he played in four games this season, so this year wouldn’t count either.
If Locker were to miss all of next season, he might have a case.
But as of now, he doesn’t.
The spokesman said UW will keep paperwork on hand detailing Locker’s injury this season but won’t file it with anyone “because he doesn’t currently qualify for it.”
So that should be that.
CAL GAME PICKED FOR NATIONAL TV: The school also announced today that the Cal game Dec. 6 will be televised nationally on FSN and will kick off at noon. That will be the final game of the season and the final game as UW coach for Tyrone Willingham.
