Thursday lunchtime links and notes

A lunchtime smorgasboard. …
— There likely won’t be any official confirmation on the interview today of Notre Dame offensive coordinator Michael Haywood. UW AD Scott Woodward has said he won’t comment on such matters. But I’ve talked with several sources about it, and the feeling is that this is definitely for the head coaching job, not just as a coordinator to join a new staff, as has been rumored. But this is almost certainly just one of many such interviews that will (and some of which probably already have) taken place. Woodward said Wednesday he is just at the “courting” stage of the process right now, with a decision nowhere near. This interview is today and then Woodward is expected to accompany the football team to Pullman on Friday.
— Expect something from the advisory committee in the next few days on what it has put together in terms of what it would like to see in a new coach. The committee, as I mentioned Wednesday, has already met and done some work, and sounds as if it will have something to make public soon.
— I neglected to pass along some of the usual links earlier today. But once again, here they all are from Vince Grippi in Spokane.
— ESPN’s Ted Miller sees a close Husky win.
— Rivals.com has an entertaining look at the game.
— The Sporting News has a bunch of news and notes on the game.
— The spread has gone down a little bit in WSU’s favor, from about 8 1/2 points to 7 at most places. In most instances this year, the betting trends have ended up foreshawdowing what’s happened on the field in UW games.
All for now.
