A few Turkey day links — Fulmer interested in UW?

Really? Links on Thanksgiving?
Anyway, in between our Turkey Bowl game and Thanksgiving, I read a few things worth passing along:
— A Knoxville TV station is reporting that fired Tennessee coach Phil Fulmer has shown interest in taking over at UW. I couldn’t find that story anywhere but here’s one from a couple of days ago in which Fulmer says there is one job out there that would really interest him. Apparently that job is UW’s.
— Here’s the Forth Worth Star-Telegram story in which Gary Patterson is reported to have no interest in the UW job. Reading between the lines of it, sounds like he’d prefer Tennessee.
— Notre Dame offensive coordinator Michael Haywood met with reporters Wednesday for the first time since his interview at UW last week. He said he couldn’t talk about it, but also obviously didn’t deny the meeting or say he’s no longer a candidate. Also interesting that he’s moving to the sidelines for the game with USC this weekend.
— Here’s a really good story by Sportsline.com’s Dennis Dodd that helps explain why Chris Petersen may be reluctant to leave Boise State. Here’s another one from Yahoo.com.Those articles help reinforce the point that when a coach says he’s not interested in moving, it’s not always that he doesn’t think the job he’d be leaving for his attractive, but maybe he just doesn’t want to leave. Look how many coaches apparently turned down the USC football job the last time it was open? Here’s a story detailing how many people considered USC to have failed when it hired Carroll.
— One Memphis columnist says Lane Kiffin isn’t qualified to be the next coach at Tennessee. And everybody is denying that Kiffin has already been offered the job.
— Lots of good Pac-10 links from Ken Goe, including the news that Taylor Mays is still undecided about turning pro.
All for now and Happy Thanksgiving.
