Coaching updates

The coaching news just never ends, so here a few updates to pass along:
— Sources have confirmed that Mike Leach was in Seattle and talked with UW officials over the last two days. He is back in Lubbock now, acccording to one source. But it sounds like the Huskies may be in for a bidding war if he’s who they want. Word is Texas Tech AD Gerald Myers said today that he will do whatever it takes to keep Leach in Lubbock. UPDATE — Here’s a link to a story from the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal on the school’s plans for an extension of Leach’s contract.
— On the Kyle Whittingham front, there is this story out of Salt Lake City today that Utah defensive coordinator Gary Andersen is a front-runner for the Utah State job. Conventional wisdom is that Andersen would be a potential successor to Whittingham if he were to leave, so the fact that he has agreed to a second interview at Utah State indicates to some that he thinks Whittingham isn’t leaving.
— Fresno State is planning to resume practice on Thursday, presumably with Pat Hill as head coach.
— A source said Boise State coach Chris Petersen was in Prosser today on a recruiting visit with Prosser WR Kirby Moore, the younger brother of BSU QB Kellen Moore. But no word on whether he plans to make it any further up the road.
All for now.
