Wednesday late-night links

A few more links and notes before wrapping up day 4,333,000,999 of UW’s search for a new coach (okay, I may be exaggerating a little).
— I was told by someone close to the Boise State situation tonight not to expect Chris Petersen to be a candidate at UW. It may have made sense that he would be given what happened at Oregon on Tuesday. But the general thought in Boise apparently is that this isn’t the year he’s looking to leave, that he isn’t really anxious to jump into a big-time, big-city atmosphere and likes it in Boise. So for now, may be best not to consider Petersen a possibility.
— We mentioned here earlier that the fact that Utah defensive coordinator Gary Andersen was getting the Utah State job might mean that Utah coach Kyle Whittingham is content to stay where he is. Here’s a story from the Salt Lake Tribune with a little more detail on Andersen’s new job and how it may mean Whittingham is staying at Utah and not looking at other jobs such as UW’s.
— Here’s an interesting story from the New York Times on Mike Leach’s situation and how he appears ready to bolt Texas Tech — only question being whether it’s UW or Auburn.
— A Fresno TV station conducted a poll on Pat Hill with some interesting results.
— USC offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian is apparently a finalist for the UW job, and here’s an LA Times story with an insightful look at his Trojan career.
— For those who still care that there is a game this weekend — and there are only 12 a year — this AP story points out that the Bears aren’t likely to take the Huskies lightly given what happened last season.
All for now.
