More on Leach, other notes

Talked with a second source who says that Mike Leach is on his way back to Seattle. Leach is believed to have been in Lubbock this morning, according to one source, before apparently heading out.
One Lubbock source said that the belief down there is that Leach is not interested in the Auburn job and it is either take the UW job or stay at Tech. A second meeting with the Huskies may settle that issue. While a second trip to UW indicates a lot of interest on Leach’s behalf, it also may confirm rumors that some UW officials had a little hesitation with Leach after his first meeting — maybe they wanted to make sure before talks got more serious.
Not sure how this plays into anything, but ESPN is reporting a reserve Texas Tech DB was arrested early this morning and charged with dealing cocaine. One source told me that Leach was apparently informed of that this morning, apparently before heading to Seattle.
Also of note this morning are the stories that talks about a contract extension for Leach haven’t gotten all that far.
Finally on the Leach front, a writer for the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal says he doesn’t think Leach really wants to leave.
IN OTHER NEWS. ….
— The San Francisco Chronicle has this look at the end of the Tyrone Willingham era at UW, contrasting it with his happier time at Stanford. I wrote a story talking with a couple of those same players in September.
