Whittingham update

The news earlier today of the withdrawals of Pat Hill and Mike Leach only increased speculation that Utah’s Kyle Whittingham may be involved in the UW search in some way.
He may be — it’s believed there has been some kind of contact between the two — but he’s apparently not meeting with the Huskies this week.
Whittingham was in his office going about his usual daily business this afternoon, which included speaking with reporters a little while ago.
He has a meeting tomorrow with a couple of assistants on his staff who are reportedly heading to Utah State — where Utah defensive coordinator Gary Andersen was just named as the new head coach — hoping to convince them to stay in Salt Lake City.
All of that leads to the general feeling in Utah that Whittingham is planning to stay put.
