Gameday readings

The final gameday of the year is an early one, so we’ll get started with a few links to pass the time until kickoff.
— This is the final day as UW’s coach for Tyrone Willingham and I tried to assess his legacy for my main story today.
— Speaking of Willingham, the San Diego Union-Tribune says he has had contact with officials at San Diego State about becoming the head coach there, though it’s unclear if he’s a serious candidate.
— Moving on to the next UW coach, Steve Sarkisian, I talked to a few people yesterday to get some reaction, notably from former Husky QB Marques Tuiasosopo, who was coached by Sarkisian with the Raiders in 2004. Tui gives Sarkisian high marks and says the returning UW players better get ready to work.
Bud Withers opines on the hire of Sarkisian. By the way, sounds as if a press conference will come Monday now instead of Sunday.
— USC is already making plans for life after Sarkisian.
— The Cal players will be fueled today by the memory of last year’s game, which LB Anthony Felder of O’Dea High calls “an embarrassment.”
— The SBRForum picks a big Cal win today.
— Here’s our nuts and bolts preview of the game today.

More later from the stadium.
