Bronson, Blackman expect to be back

Two members of the class of 2008 who didn’t qualify academically — Demetrius Bronson and Dominique Blackman — each said today they expect to enroll at UW in January and officially become Huskies.
Each said he has done what was needed to get qualified — Blackman said he had to raise his standardized test score, Bronson said he needed to pass two on-line classes. But each is still waiting to hear if he will be approved for enrollment by the school, a significant hurdle that must still be passed.
Blackman said that might have happened as soon as today but personnel changes in the UW football office — along with assistant coaches, some of the staff has also been let go — caused a slight delay. Bronson said he also has to go back before the admissions board but that he expects he will be good to go.
Bronson said he has already spoken with new UW coach Steve Sarkisian and said he is excited to join the Huskies. He is a running back from Kentwood High and said he expects to play that position for the Huskies next season.
Bronson said some people told him he should look around after he was declared ineligible but that he had his heart set on UW.
“I’ll be another helper back there for Jake (Locker) in the backfield,” he said. “I’m really excited about it.”
Blackman, a QB from Carson, Calif., said he had yet to speak with Sarkisian but was expecting to do that this afternoon.
