A new name for O-line coach?

The guys at Dawgman.com are reporting a new name as a possibility, if not the actual hire, for offensive line coach — Cal offensive line coach Jim Michalczik.
This would be a pretty significant get for the Huskies as Michalczik has been regarded as one of the better O-line coaches in the Pac-10 in recent years, witness Cal’s usually sterling running game and offense.
Michalczik has been at Cal for the entire Jeff Tedford tenure, and most recently has been assistant head coach and co-offensive coordinator, which leads you to wonder if there’s a chance he will have one of those titles at UW, as well, if he comes to Washington.
Here’s his bio, and as you can see, he is also a former lineman at Washington State, interestingly enough playing alongside current WSU head coach Paul Wulff on the line for the 1988 Cougar team that won the Aloha Bowl.
He is a native of Port Angeles, which might serve as part of his motivation for wanting to return.
There had been some rumblings earlier about Rick Mallory and not sure where that stands. Some thought he could end up as tight ends coach, which was his job in his previous stint at UW.
Also tonight, Scott Wolf reports that USC secondary coach Rocky Seto is still making up his mind about becoming the defensive coordinator while Steve Sarkisian was again seen wearing Husky garb at a local JC game.
The Orange County Register also has this on Seto tonight, with the coach saying he is struggling with the decision “I love being at USC.”
Dawgman.com is also reporting that if Seto says no, the Huskies may pursue former New Mexico coach Rocky Long, a former DC at UCLA and Oregon State before serving for 11 years as head coach of the Lobos. Long said when he stepped down earlier this year he hoped to still be a coordinator. Long has traditionally run a 4-2-5 defense so he would potentially bring a different look to UW if he ended up being the guy.
The OCR also has this interesting note on how Sarkisian is handling being a coach at two schools for a little while.
