Thursday links — Huskies receive a commit

A little bit of news on Thursday, including the first commit of the Steve Sarkisian era:
— All of the usual sites are reporting that UW received a commitment last night from Josh Moten of Narbonne High in Harbor City, Calif. He’s listed as an athlete but could be a QB after throwing for 2,396 yards and 25 touchdowns. He led Narbonne to the CIF City Section title game last weekend where it tied San Pedro. He had offers from Colorado, San Jose State and North Carolina A&T. Here’s his profile from Scout.com and another from Rivals.com. He is the eighth commit for UW though most are putting Keith Price and Nathan Fellner in the “soft verbal” category right now, so we’ll see how this shakes out.
— Narbonne High, by the way, has produced all kinds of college players through the years, most recently Dashon Goldson and Roy Lewis.
— Garfield High’s Deandre Coleman committed last night to Cal. Regarded as the No. 1 recruit in the state, he had been a commit to UW last summer before the coaching change.
— The LA Daily News reports that USC’s director of football operations, Dennis Slutak, is mulling an offer to come to UW and may accept it.
— Former UW coach Don James is among the experts giving bowl predictions to The Sporting News.
All for now.
