Friday a.m. links — Curtis Shaw update

Another snow day in Seattle. But it’s still raining news on Montlake.
— I was able last night to get ahold of Derrick Shaw, the father of Curtis Shaw, to find out what is going on with his son. Here’s a brief story from that interview. In a few things that didn’t make it in the story, Derrick Shaw said his son is fired up to return to UW, saying “I’ve never seen him as excited as I’ve seen him the last week or two.” He said Curtis Shaw will be here Jan. 3 for the beginning of classes Jan. 5. And he said he is up to 210 pounds, from the 186 he was listed last fall at UW which would help his move back to running back. He said his son wants to be a running back again and that he has gotten the word from the new coaching staff that he will be able to give it a try.
— The LA Times has some notes on Steve Sarkisian being back at USC’s practice, as well as a rumor that he is still pursuing USC defensive coordinator Nick Holt for the same job here. Also, however, there are increasing rumors about the potential involvement of Ron English, as well.
— The LA Daily News reports that Sarkisian had four in-home visits last night. One was with quarterback Keith Price, who according to Scout.com reaffirmed his commitment to UW.
— Sarkisian lost out on one of the players he went to Hawaii to recruit as Simione Vehikite committed to USC.
All for now.
