Recruiting calendar update

Seems like there’s been an, uh, avalanche of recruiting news of late with new UW coach Steve Sarkisian racking up more travel miles than Rick Steves in his efforts to bring new players to the Huskies.
But that will come to a stop for a while as of today, meaning there may not be much new recruiting news until after the New Year.
As Sarkisian pointed out at his initial press conference, the holiday period is also a dead period for recruiting — one reason he decided to keep coaching at USC through the Rose Bowl since he figured there was only so much he could do for UW during that time.
Given that, however, I thought it might be relevant to pass along the official NCAA recruiting calendar for the next six weeks or so until the Feb. 4 signing day.
Here’s the link.
As you can see, the period from December 22, 2008, through January 1, 2009 is a dead period when, in essence, all recruiting activity comes to a halt. (Here’s an official definition).
And from Jan. 2-4 is a quiet period when only contact on-campus is allowed (here’s an official definition).
So in short, there won’t be any substantive recruiting activity going on again until Jan. 5 — and likely not much news during that period, either. The first time UW will host any players on visits is expected to be the weekend of Jan. 9-11.
