Donatell to USC? More Wednesday morning links

So could UW and USC simply end up trading defensive coordinators?
That’s a scenario presented today in the LA Daily News, which reports that Ed Donatell could be in the mix to take over at USC, which obviously needs a new DC today.
Might sound strange on the surface given the season UW just completed, but remember that Donatell and USC coach Pete Carroll are good friends, having worked together in the NFL with the Jets in the early 1990s when Carroll was the DC and Donatell DB coach.
And it would help the Huskies if Donatell gets hired somewhere. The school owes him $334,000 next season unless he gets another job.
In other news:
— Here’s my story for the paper today on yesterday’s press conference with Holt with a few quotes from after the official deal.
— Here’s Steve Kelley’s column, focusing on the intensity of Holt and how he thinks UW is a “sleeping giant.”
Nick Daschel of Buster Sports, however, says the jury is still out on the Holt hiring.
— Buster Sports also has a good roundup of Pac-10 news.
— Here’s the take from Ted Miller of ESPN.com.
All for now.
