Eventful day for ex-Husky coaches

Each of the past two former UW football coaches — Tyrone Willingham and Keith Gilbertson — found their way into the news today. And not necessarily happily.
It was revealed today that Gilbertson is out as receivers coach for the Seattle Seahawks. Gilbertson had been with the Seahawks since 2005 after being fired by the Huskies. Gilbertson will be 61 this May so it’s uncertain what the future holds for him now.
As for Willingham, he is no longer the president of the American Football Coaches Association as his one-year tenure in that role has come to an end with this week’s convention. Dick Tomey of San Jose State was elected as the new president.
A few of you have asked what Willingham’s next coaching position may be. I haven’t seen or heard of anything of late after his name did crop up in connection with a couple of jobs that have since been filled, namely New Mexico State. But if/when I do, I’ll pass it along.
