Tuesday night notes — More coaching news, and Sark talks

The rumor passed along earlier today regarding Doug Mussmeier potentially becoming UW’s new quarterback coach grew true later Tuesday.
A source indicated tonight that Nussmeier was likely to be the hire and the Fresno Bee later confirmed Nussmeier’s departure. (This information updated since blog first posted).
Nussmeier was offensive coordinator this year at Fresno State and previously coached with the Rams, among other pro teams and colleges. Here’s his Rams bio from two years ago.
New UW coach Steve Sarkisian has said he plans to be heavily involved with coaching the quarterbacks. But he also said on the day his hire was announced that he would bring in a quarterbacks coach.
Here’s what he said that day:
“We will have a quarterback coach title because it takes a lot of work to mentor a quarterback, takes a lot of off-season work, in-season work. So we will basically have two of us heading this thing up. But I will work hand-in-hand closely with Jake (Locker) and Ronnie (Fouch) and the guys we bring in. They will play well.”
With Nussmeier in the fold, UW has just one assistant coaching spot open — receivers/tight ends (though there has been no official word that’s exactly what the last job would be, just that those are the two positions that have not been spoken for yet).
SARKISIAN INTERVIEWED BY AP — Also tonight is this interview with Sarkisian today from the Associated Press. No real breaking news, but a good overview of how he’s feeling about where things are right now.
