Spotlight on recruiting

With letter-of-intent signing day now less than three weeks away, The Seattle Times today unveiled its annual ranking of the state’s top recruits.
Here are the Blue Chips; the Red Chips; and the White Chips.
Our story also detailed how WSU is getting a larger-than-normal share of the top recruits in the state this year, benefiting in part on the uncertainty this season at UW.
However, as many of you have already discussed on this board, looks like this weekend will have proven to be pretty productive for the Huskies.
All of the sites are reporting that UW has gotten commitments from Wilson High CB Desmond Trufant and safety Will Shamburger of St. John Bosco. RealDawg.com is also reporting two other commits, from DT Chris Robinson of Tustin, Calif., and WR James Johnson of Valley Center, Calif.
Trufant is the highest-rated of those players by Scout.com, given three stars and tabbed No. 70 at his position in the country.
Johnson is also a three-star recruit and already visited Oregon and Colorado.
Robinson is something of a sleeper who had apparently earlier committed to Nevada.
Shamburger had earlier committed to Boise State.
The commits of the weekend would give UW 14 in its Class of 2009 but Scout.com reports there could be as many as “six to eight” commits out of this weekend, pumping up that total even more.
