Donatell to Broncos made official, a few other notes

It was rumored late last week that Ed Donatell was in the running for an assistant’s job with the Denver Broncos.
Late last night, that news was made official that Donatell, who served last year as UW’s defensive coordinator, will become Denver’s new secondary coach. Here’s a link.
Not to belabor the point, but for the last time it seems relevant to point out that this will save the Huskies some money. Donatell was the only UW assistant from last year’s staff who had a multi-year contract and Washington would have owed him $334,000 for next year had he not gotten another job. UW will not owe him that money now that he is with the Broncos.
This will be something of a homecoming for Donatell, who was also Denver’s secondary coach from 1995-99, during which time the Broncos won two Super Bowls.
IN OTHER NEWS. …
— Here’s a story from Las Vegas that includes a note on OL Jeremiah Tofeaono, who visited UW this weekend. The story reports that Steve Sarkisian is expected to make a home-visit with him tonight, with some speculation that he will then commit to UW. He would be the first true OL in the Class of 2009.
Nick Daschel of Buster Sports has some harsh words for former UW coach Tyrone Willingham.
— Some good Pac-10 notes from Ken Goe, leading off with the aggressive effort by USC coach Pete Carroll to land his new offensive coordinator, paying Jeremy Bates a reported $1 million per year. Bates replaces Sarkisian on the USC staff.
All for now.
