The the-kids-are-having-a -sleep-over-so-they-don’t-want-me-around-anyway edition:
— ESPN’s Ted Miller assesses Washington’s recruiting needs and comes up with a simple answer — everything. He also writes there’s no way to save this year’s recruiting class.
Nick Daschel of Buster Sports has some inventive ways for Pac-10 teams to raise some money. He also talks to a longtime Husky fan who wonders why the Huskies can’t just play in Qwest Field. (They’d lose almost 5,000 seats for starters).
— OSU just stole a recruit with an interesting lineage out of the clutches of the Oregon DucksMarkus Wheaton, cousin of you-know-who (longtime UW fans will get it, anyway). Sounds as if the assistant coaching uncertainty at Oregon caused Wheaton to change his mind. Here’s more perspective on that story.
Jon Wilner of the San Jose Mercury News presents his really early top 25 for next year. UW will host four of the top 15 — LSU, USC, Oregon and Cal — and play at two others rated in the 16-25 group — Notre Dame and Oregon State.
All for now.
