Cisneros to Central

An update tonight on a one-time Husky commit for the Class of 2009.
Grant Cisneros, a tight end from Sumner High School who committed to play at Washington in November before Steve Sarkisian was hired, has decided to play at Central Washington, according to his mom, Kim.
Sarkisian’s staff told Cisneros in December that his offer was being reconsidered and he should pursue other options. Here are details on that from my story at the time.
Kim Cisneros said that while her son wanted to play at UW, he is happy with his future plans, including the fact that he will be able to major in communications at Central and play tight end, his preferred position.
She said her son had some interest from the likes of Idaho, Montana and Wyoming but wanted to stay close to home and was also assured of being admitted to Central (he’s apparently only taken the SAT once).
In fact, Kim Cisneros said she thinks the way this played out could be the best for her son in the long run. She said her son has been more serious about his future and academics since learning of Washington’s change in plans for him.
“I think this is a positive thing for him to have happened as a growth experience,” she said. “They (Central) are going to have one heck of a player because he is hungry and angry.”
