Breaking down JC eligibility

Several of you have asked for a breakdown of the eligibility of the six junior college players UW signed yesterday.
Good question, and I’ll try to answer it with the information provided by UW yesterday.
CB DAVID BATTS — Played in 2007 at Palomar College, then redshirted in 2008 at El Camino. So while UW listed him as a junior, he has three years of eligibility left, but no redshirt year remaining, so he has three to play three.
TE DORSON BOYCE — He played in 2006 at Allan Hancock, sat out 2007 with an injury, then played in 2008. So he is a junior with two years to play.
CB DOMINIQUE GAISIE — Played at Mt. SAC in 2007 and 2008 so he is a junior with three years to play two seasons.
OT DANIEL MAFOE — Played at El Camino CC in 2006, redshirted in 2007, then played in 2008. So he is a junior with two to play two.
P WILL MAHAN — He played in 2007 and 2008 at Bakersfield CC so he is a junior with three to play two.
DT JOHNNY TIVAO — Played the 2007 and 2008 seasons at Cerritos College, so he is a junior with three to play two.
