Tuesday a.m. notes

A few links and notes on the first full day after the Jim Michalczik, uh, Era. …
— Here is the Oakland Tribune story on the hire.
— The Sacramento Bee has an interesting post in its Raiders blog pointing out that Tom Cable hinted loudly he had a guy in mind for the job when he was hired last Wednesday. Turns out he did.
Nick Daschel says UW ought to just hire Jon Gruden to replace Michalczik. It’s a fun thought, anyway.
— ESPN.com’s Ted Miller says Steve Sarkisian should try to lure away another USC assistant, Pat Ruel, to replace Michalczik. Ruel is also a former Washington State OC. Seems unlikely.
— The Oregonian has its own take on the departure as well as a lot of links.
— CollegeFootballNews.com has an interesting rating of UW’s Top 5 recruits for its Class of 2009, listing Andru Pulu as No. 1.
— Tennessee officially reported its recruiting violations that were similar to those at UW. That’s just one of many missteps for new UT coach Lane Kiffin leading to noted Alabama columnist Paul Finebaum to say that Kiffin should be fired. (And all of which may explain further why the Huskies were never interested in Kiffin).
All for now.
