Warner attends vigil service for Cooper

Arizona Cardinals QB Kurt Warner was among those who attended a prayer service for former UW linebacker Marquis Cooper here in Mesa, Ariz. tonight.
Family members met the media beforehand and confirmed that they will try to conduct their own search — there are details in this story of another former Husky, Tank Johnson.,helping to organize efforts for a private search for the three men who remain missing.
I attended the press briefing and vigil and filed a story that will be on-line shortly.
The overall theme is that the family is not giving up hope that Cooper will be found alive.
“We’re not giving up,” Cooper’s grandfather, Joseph Davis, told the 300 or so who attended. “We know the power of prayer.”
As noted in the story, four pictures of Cooper greeted those who came to the vigil including one of him wearing a UW football shirt and holding a caught fish, and another of Cooper and a number of friends making the “W” hand sign commonly used by UW athletes and students.
UPDATE — Here are more details on Johnson’s efforts and the search.
