A new player for Huskies, new coach for Ducks

So you go have lunch and hang out in L.A. for a few hours and look what happens — UW reportedly has a new player, Chris Young, a linebacker from Auburn High; and the dean of Pac-10 coaches, Mike Bellotti, decides to retire and move up to the AD’s position at Oregon.
First on Young. Scout.com is reporting that Young has given a commitment. Young is a running back and safety at Auburn but is expected to grow into a linebacker. Here’s his profile.
He’s known for his hitting, some calling him maybe the most intimidating secondary player in the state since Keauntea Bankhead. UW was Young’s first offer and he leapt on it.
Young is now the fourth commit for the Class of 2010 and the third from the state of Washington joining O’Dea RB Zach Fogerson and Lakes High DT Sione Potoae.
That’s already more in-state commits than UW had for the Class of 2009 when the Huskies had just two, Wilson High CB Desmond Trufant and Federal Way LB Andru Pulu.
Now on Bellotti, here’s a story with some details.
And here’s a good overview of Bellotti’s career from the LA Times.
Bellotti’s departure leaves USC’s Pete Carroll as the dean of conference coaches in terms of longest continuous service, as he has been with the Trojans since 2001.
