Coach Sark enters the blogosphere

I had my head down yesterday, buried deep in March Madness.
When I finally emerged, I noticed we have some new competition in blogging about the Huskies — UW coach Steve Sarkisian.
Here’s his site, at CoachSark.com. As he explains, he won’t be doing a whole lot of the actual typing himself, leaving that to some others in the department who plan to provide regular updates about team activities (cheif author Matt Peterson’s desk actually used to be two behind mine at the Seattle Times before he got smart and moved onward and upward. He’s also Mike Holmgren’s son-in-law.)
Some other coaches also have web sites — I’m sure Sarkisian is patterning this a little off of Pete Carroll’s site at USC that also includes the USCRipsIt blog.
While this might make our job here a little tougher — they figure to have just a little bit better access to the program than we here at the Times — this is obviously great for UW fans and further evidence of the lifting of the Iron Curtain of the last few years. Sarkisian already had his own Twitter page that supplies quick updates on team activities and will have open practices throughout spring.
My biggest question is whether this means Sarkisian can use some of his power to help us improve the pre-game media buffet at Husky Stadium now that he’s one of us.
