Carroll, Dailey gone for good

A short note to pass along the news that coach Steve Sarkisian said after practice today that running back Terrance Dailey and offensive lineman Allen Carroll will not be back.
Sarkisian said Dailey, who was the team’s leading rusher last season with 338 yards, “just couldn’t meet the academic requirements” and won’t be back with the team.
Sarkisian said Carroll, an offensive tackle who redshirted last season “decided that he’s not going to play football anymore.”
The loss of Dailey thins the competition at tailback as UW now has seven at that spot. Carroll had been in the running for a backup tackle job.
Sarkisian said the loss of the two now means the Huskies probably won’t face a scholarship crunch this fall. UW coaches had told Nathan Fellner that he might have to delay his enrollment a quarter, and that Will Shamburger might have to do the same.
Now, he said, “I think they will probably get in. … we’ll probably be under (the 85-scholarship limit) in the fall as this thing finally shakes out.”
Sarkisian said that all six of the team’s JC transfers for the fall “are on course” to qualify. “They’ve just got to get it done.”
I’ll have more later though there was no other real personnel news from practice. Sarkisian said LB Donald Butler sat out with a minor knee injury more precautionary than anything else. DT Tyrone Duncan suffered some sort of foot/ankle injury but also could be back by Saturday.
