Wednesday a.m. links — interesting QB recruit news

Link me something I can understand. …
— ESPN.com West Coast recruiting analyst Greg Biggins has a couple of interesting items from yesterday potentially impacting the Huskies. First is a note on Jake Heaps cutting his list to five — including UW — and saying he could decide at anytime but could also go well into the summer. He also has a note on QB Jesse Scroggins of Lakewood High in Lakewood, Calif., who visited UW last weekend. Scroggins is quoted as saying that he’s been told UW will take just one QB in the Class of 2009 — the implication being that if Scroggins commits first, then there wouldn’t be room for Heaps.
— The Huskies also have an offer out to another QB, Nic Montana of Oaks Christian High in Westlake Village, Calif., whose father Joe was a pretty fair QB once himself. There have been rumblings Nic Montana may make an unofficial visit sometime this weekend. Would his father come along?
— Count Oregon State as the latest Pac-10 school to say it needs some money. OSU’s AD on Tuesday delivered a rather blunt message that it needs some cash fast or it may have to start cutting spots.
— Will this be the latest Pete Carroll invention that Steve Sarkisian will duplicate?
Also, let’s try for another live chat today at 1 p.m. I’ll put up a separate notice about it in a little while.
