And guess what, even more on the new uniforms. …
— CoachSark.com today is releasing some video of the new uniforms as modeled by some of the current players, which may give you an even better view of how they will look come gameday. Jake Locker is wearing the home uniform, Donald Butler the away uniform. One thing I clarified is that they do technically still have purple pants, but since they don’t plan to wear them they aren’t displaying those. What is being displayed is what they plan to wear.
— The National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics announced this week that former UW AD Barbara Hedges is one of the new inductees into its Hall of Fame. Here’s the official release.
— This story on Dick Tomey and his wife features a Tyrone Willingham sighting.
— ESPN’s Ted Miller lists Chris Polk and Quinton Richardson as his two Huskies on his list of 20 Pac-10 players who will emerge in 2009.
— This AP story covers what is going on at the Pac-10 meetings this week in Phoenix, which is dominated by conversation of budget cuts up and down the conference. Both UW AD Scott Woodward and football coach Steve Sarkisian are in attendance as is common for this event (I think other UW staffers may be there, as well). Two things jump out — that they might decide to do away with the practice of putting football teams up in hotels on Friday nights before home games, something all teams have done for years; and that they heard a presentation on a possible Pac-10 network patterned after the Big 10 Network. One other thing worth wondering — if everyone is trying so hard to cut costs, maybe they don’t need to hold these meetings at resorts in Phoenix.
All for now.
