Te’o-Nesheim readying for Pac-10 track finals

The Washington men’s track team left today for the Pac-10 championships this weekend in Eugene. And among the traveling party is Daniel Te’o-Nesheim, better known for his role as a defensive end on the football team.
Te’o-Nesheim is entered in the shot put, which is scheduled for Saturday at around 5:40 p.m.
He has a best of 52-feet, 10.25 inches this year, which would rank him last of the 11 competitors entered. But he’s only thrown once all season, having not competed until after the end of the spring football season.
The realistic hope is that he might be able to finish in the top eight for the Huskies and maybe get the team a point. He also is within range of the 55-feet, 1.50 inches that is needed to qualify for the West Regionals.
Te’o-Nesheim is the only football player still participating in track.
CB Adam Long and WR Jordan Polk both decided not to return for the outdoor season after taking part in some indoor events. Word is Long may participate in track in future years.
Here’s the official release from GoHuskies.com with all the details on the Pac-10 Championships.
