Another new Husky

Reports this afternoon that Bothell offensive lineman Colin Porter has committed to UW are indeed true.
RealDawg.com and Dawgman.com are each reporting the commitment and I also just talked with Porter who said he gave the word earlier today.
Porter, who played last year at Redmond but is transferring to Bothell for his senior season because his family is moving, said he had been thinking about making a final decision a lot the last few weeks and that the commitment earlier this week of quarterback Nick Montana of Oaks Christian High in Westlake Village, Calif., helped make up his mind.
“That kind of put me over the edge,” he said. “That proves to me a lot what that coaching staff is doing. … it’s not because of his dad but that he’s a great player and getting someone of that stature excited me.”
Porter said he also had offers from Washington State and Stanford, though the latter offer was conditional on being accepted, which hadn’t happened yet. He said he had recently taken unofficial visits to Oregon and Oregon State but did not get offers from either school.
Porter is listed at 6-4-and-a-half and 300 pounds by Scout.com, which rates him as the No. 19 guard in the country. Rivals.com lists him No. 28. He is the second offensive linemen in this class, joining Ben Riva of O’Dea High.
Porter said he was told by UW coaches that the Huskies will sign 4-5 offensive linemen this year.
Porter said another reason for aligning with the Huskies is that “they recruited me the hardest.”’ Porter said that on the last day coaches could visit schools in May, that “five or six Husky coaches just packed my coach’s office and talked to me and it was cool. I was flattered they brought that many people down.”
Porter is the ninth solid commit for UW’s Class of 2010 and the sixth from the state of Washington.
The only other in-state player listed as currently having an offer forom UW is Bothell tight end Michael Hartvigson. Hartvigson recenly told Dawgman.com that UW was at the top of his list.
