Friday a.m. links

It’s gloomy outside but there are always hot links here. …
— ESPN.com’s Ted Miller has the Pac-10 players who were taken in the UFL Draft on Thursday (that’s the same league Tyrone Willingham was going to work in before he apparently turned down an offer). The list includes one former Husky — Larry Tripplett — selected by Orlando, which is coached by Jim Fassel.
— Rivals.com rated UW No. 97 in its breakdown of all 120 teams earlier this week and has a nice little preview to go along with the ranking.
— In recruiting news, Rivals.com reports that OL Colin Tanigawa of Loyola High in Los Angeles was expected to visit UW late this week. At Loyola, Tanigawa blocks for one Jerry Neuheisel, the oldest son of a certain former Husky coach (see Jerry Neuheisel in action in pictures here).
— Buster Sports’ Nick Daschel has some interesting thoughts on why moving the Holiday Bowl to Jan. 1 may not be such a good idea (I happen to agree completely). I’ve attended at least five Holiday Bowls and it has a great atmosphere, and I think it’s in part because it’s on a week night in between Christmas and New Year’s and seems to have created a real niche for itself with that time slot. Seems like everybody always watches the Holiday Bowl. Feels like it might get really lost on Jan. 1.
— Jon Wilner has an interesting look at the decision by San Jose State to drop a 2010 game with Stanford to instead take a bigger payout to play Alabama. Ah the vagaries of scheduling.
All for now.
