A Saturday smorgasbord. …
— UW director of sports performance Ivan Lewis was a guest on the Dawgman.com show on KJR-AM this morning and dropped the news that the school has hired Scott Gadeken from Idaho as a new assistant in the department. He replaces Charr Gahagan, who left over the summer for North Texas. As you can see on the bio of Gadeken, he worked at LSU when that school won a national title in 2003. And that means he was there during a time when UW AD Scott Woodward worked at LSU, as well.
— Times columnist Jerry Brewer attended yesterday’s press conference and writes that Steve Sarkisian continues to make a good first impression.
— Former Husky RB Terrance Dailey talks about his departure from UW and his decision to attend Sacramento State. In the story, Dailey claims that reports that he left over academics aren’t accurate. For what it’s worth, the basis of those reports are the comments from Sarkisian himself, who said at the time that Dailey “just couldn’t meet the academic requirements.”
Chris Dufresne of the LA Times examines the new coaches in college football and puts Sarkisian No. 1 on his list of those that are an “upgrade.”
— Here’s an interesting look at the challenges facing LSU in scheduling that has some mention of its game at UW.
— For those of you who think the NCAA is waffling in its investigation of USC, here’s one guy who agrees in a pretty detailed examination of the case to date.
All for now.
